It is popular in South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisines. Since a variety of mixed vegetables are also used to make sambhar it becomes nutrient rich. Sambar recipe shared here is the one which has been followed by my mum for several decades.

Sambhar is one of the most favored of current trending meals in the world. It is simple, it is fast, it tastes delicious. It is appreciated by millions every day. They’re nice and they look wonderful. Sambhar is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

To begin with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few ingredients. You can have sambhar using 17 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Sambhar:
  1. Prepare 1 cup toor daal
  2. Get 1 onion
  3. Get 1 tomato
  4. Get 1 tsp Sambhar powder
  5. Make ready as per taste Salt
  6. Take as required Veggies (bottle gurad, drumstick)
  7. Prepare 1-2 tsp Tamarind pulp
  8. Prepare Sambhar Tadka
  9. Take 1 onion
  10. Get 1-2 tomato
  11. Take 10-12 curry patta
  12. Make ready 1 tsp sambhar powder
  13. Make ready as per taste Red chili powder
  14. Prepare as per taste Salt
  15. Prepare 1 tsp mustard seeds
  16. Prepare 2 dry red chilli
  17. Get 2-3 tsp oil

Sambar is a dish in South Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil cuisines, made of toor dal and veggies, sambar masala. Sambhar synonyms, Sambhar pronunciation, Sambhar translation, English dictionary definition of Sambhar. n. Any of various large deer of the genus Cervus, especially C. unicolor of southern Asia. You know nothing would disappoint you more to see a plate of puffy hot idlis or piping hot dosa without its must-have accompaniment-sambhar.

Steps to make Sambhar:
  1. First wash toor daal and in cooker add daal, water, one onion, one tomato, salt and keep for whistle 1 whistle on high flame and 2 on low flame.
  2. Once cooker cool down open it and mash the dal. Now add water as much thick consistency you want, add veggies and boil it nicely. Now add Tamarind pulp.
  3. In pan heat oil, add mustard seeds let it crackle now add dry red chil, curry patta, chopped onion, salt and fry till it becomes soft.
  4. Then add tomato and fry till it becomes soft.
  5. Now add sambhar powder, red chili powder just fry for 5-10 second and put this tadka in sambhar and just boil sambhar for one minute.
  6. Note - if you like sweet take you can add jaggery also while boiling. (Step 2)
