Sambar is a dish in South Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil cuisines, made of toor dal and veggies, sambar masala. Steps to make Sambhar:
  1. Soak dal for sometime and cook it in pressure cooker.
  2. Keep vegetables ready (Washed and chopped) Blend it with some water. Add sambhar masala, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  3. Let it boil. Add tamarind pulp
  4. On other burner take a pan, add coconut oil, shallot onion and curry leaves. Pour this in Sambhar.
  5. Take same pan, add coconut oil again. Add mustard (use big mustard) dry red chilli and asfoitida. Let it crackle for some time. Pour this in Sambhar. Boil it for some more time. Make a thick sambhar if you are serving with rice.
  6. Ready to serve with piping hot rice.
