The ingredients needed to make Sambhar:
  1. Prepare 1 cup tuar dal
  2. Take 1 handful chana dal
  3. Take 2 Tbsp tamarind paste
  4. Get 2 onions
  5. Prepare 4 tomatoes

  8. Get 1/2 bottle guard
  9. Prepare Salt as per taste
  10. Take 1 Tbsp sambhar masala

  14. Make ready 1 Tbsp dried coriander powder
  15. Get 1 Tbsp sambhar masala
  16. Make ready 2-3 dried red chillies
  17. Get 5-6 curry leaves
  18. Get 2 Tbsp refined oil

Sambar is a dish in South Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil cuisines, made of toor dal and veggies, sambar masala. Instructions to make Sambhar:
  1. Wash and soak the pulses for 15 minutes.Pressure cook the pulses with 3 cups water and salt. Take 2 whistles on high flame,then switch it off
  2. Now add the vegetables in the pressure cooked dal. Take 3 more whistles on high flame.
  3. Now add tamarind paste and sambhar masala. Let it simmer.
  4. Take another pan add refined oil then asafoetida then black mustard seeds let them clutter then add red chillies, curry leaves,dried coriander powder and sambhar masala. Add this tadka in the boiled dal.
  5. Then let it simmer for 15-20mins. Your sambhar is ready.
