The ingredients needed to make Sambhar:
  1. Prepare 1 bowl arhar daal
  2. Prepare 1 onion
  3. Get 1 tomato
  4. Prepare 1 carrot
  5. Get 1 potato
  6. Prepare 1 bowl pumpkin chopped
  7. Take 2 tbsp chopped beans
  8. Take To taste salt
  9. Make ready To taste turmeric powder
  10. Get To taste red chilli powder
  11. Prepare 1 tsp mustard seeds
  12. Prepare 4 whole red dry chilli
  13. Make ready 1 tsp sambhar masala
  14. Prepare 2 tbsp Curry leaves
  15. Make ready to taste Tamarind Ball
  16. Prepare 4 tsp Cooking Oil
  17. Take as needed Water

Sambar is a dish in South Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil cuisines, made of toor dal and veggies, sambar masala. You know nothing would disappoint you more to see a plate of puffy hot idlis or piping hot dosa without its must-have accompaniment-sambhar.

Steps to make Sambhar:
  1. Wash arhar Daal. Put in pressure cooker and add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder and pressure cook till 5 whistles. Switch off the flame.
  2. Heat oil in a karahi and put mustard seeds and rai and when they splutter add onions and stir for two minutes. Now Add all the chopped vegetables. Cover the lid. Cook for 5 minutes. Now Add tamarind Ball, sambhar masala, and curry leaves. Cook for two minutes.
  3. Now add this veg mixture in pressure cooker containing cooked Daal and pressure cook again till 5 whistles.
  4. Switch off the flame and let pressure releases automatically. Open the lid and check.
  5. Heat 2 spoon cooking oil and put mustard seeds and whole red chilli. Put this tadka on Daal. Sambhar is ready to serve.
