- Make ready 1 cup Urad daal
- Get 1 tbsp chopped ginger

- Prepare 1.5 cup toor daal
- Make ready As required Chopped veggies of your own choice
- Make ready 1 chopped onion
- Make ready 1 choppped green chilli
- Get 1 tbsp mustard seeds
- Get to taste Salt
- Make ready 1 tbsp red chilli powder
- Get 3 tbsp sambhar masala
- Get leaves Some curry
- Get leaves Some Coriander
- Take 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder
- Take 3 tbsp tamarind pulp
- Prepare 1 tbsp oil for tadka
It is popular in South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisines. Just before serving warm up sambhar, immerse vadas and let soak for two minutes. Sambar vada, sambar idli types are very popular in restaurants like saravana bhavan It is very easy to prepare sambar vada, just make medu vada, sambar and the only work. Sambar vadai is one my all time favorite, in fact i can say it is the entire family's favorite one.
Instructions to make Sambhar vada:
- Soak urad daal for 4 to 5 hours. Blend it into a smooth batter and whisk it for a few minutes with hand whisker.
- Then add cumin seeds beaten coriander seeds, coriander leaves mint leaves, chopped onion, chopped green chilli, salt to taste, red chilli powder.
- Mix all the ingredients well. Take a kadhai add oil and heat it well.
- Make roundels of the mixture and slightly flatten the vadas. Make a hole with your finger on it.
- Keep fry the vada on a medium flame till golden brown. Keep aside.
- For sambhar: Soak toor daal for half an hour. Then cook it for 2 whistles in a pressure cooker by adding salt to taste and 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder.
- Then take a kadai. Add oil. Then add mustard seeds curry leaves and chopped green chilli. Let it be spultter.
- Then add chopped onion and fry till pinkish brown. Then add veggies of your own choice. Saute them for few mintues.
- Then add salt red chilli powder turmeric powder. Mix well. Cook it properly by covering it.
- After cook properly mashed veggies with the help of masher.
- Then add cooked daal and mix well. Cook it properly.
- After cooking properly add sambhar masala and coriander leaves for garnishing.
- Add vadas in this hot sambhar. Soak for 2 to 3 mintues.
- Then serve hot with south indian chutneys.
I have very fond memories associated with this vadai. Vada [vəɽɑː] (vaḍā) is a category of savoury fried snacks from India.
