  2. Prepare 1/2 cup toor dal
  3. Prepare 3 tbsp imli(soaked in hot water)

  6. Get 1/4 cup lauki
  7. Get 1&1/2 tsp salt
  8. Make ready 1 tsp red chilli powder

  14. Prepare 1 tsp black mustard seeds
  15. Make ready 1/4 tsp hing powder

  17. Prepare 1/4 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  18. Make ready For vada:
  19. Take 1 cup whole white urad dal(soaked overnight)
  20. Make ready 2 inches chopped ginger
  21. Make ready 1 chopped green chilli
  22. Prepare 1 pinch hing powder
  23. Get 1 tsp salt or to taste

It is popular in South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisines. Just before serving warm up sambhar, immerse vadas and let soak for two minutes. Sambar vada, sambar idli types are very popular in restaurants like saravana bhavan It is very easy to prepare sambar vada, just make medu vada, sambar and the only work. Instructions to make Sambhar Vada:
  1. Wash and rinse rinse toor dal.
  2. Heat ghee in a cooker, add toor dal, saute for 2 mins.
  3. Add lauki, tomatoes, salt, turmeric, red chilli, sambhar powder and 2 cups water. Stir well. Cover with the lid. Cook for 5 whistles on medium flame.
  4. Lets cool down, open the lid, mashed with mathni, mix well. Add 1 cup water, imli pulp, salt, another 1 tsp sambhar powder.
  5. For tadka: Heat ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds, allow to crackle, add dried red chillies, hing, red chilli powder. Turn off the flame. Tadka goes in sambhar.
  6. For Vada: Wash and rinse urad dal. Soaked overnight.
  7. Add urad dal, ginger, green chilli to mixer jar, add 2 tbsp water. Grind it to make smooth paste. Add salt, hing, whip by hand for 3 mins. Rest for 10 mins.
  8. Heat oil in kadhai, wets the hands. Take small portion, press down, make hole in center with finger. Ready to fry in medium hot flame, put it inside the oil till golden brown. Vada is ready.
  9. Tips: Dip vada in sambhar at the time of serving only.
