The ingredients needed to make Sambhar:
  1. Take 1/3 cup toor dal
  2. Get 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  3. Prepare 1 cup chopped mixed veggies
  4. Get 1/2 mustard seeds
  5. Prepare 5-6 curry leaves
  6. Make ready 1-2 dry chillies
  7. Take 1 medium onion chopped
  8. Take 1 tsp sambhar powfer
  9. Get 1/2 tsp seedless tamarind
  10. Make ready 1 tomato chopped
  11. Take 1 tsp oil
  12. Get 1 cup water
  13. Take 1 tsp finely chopped coriander lvs
  14. Make ready to taste Salt

Sambar is a dish in South Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil cuisines, made of toor dal and veggies, sambar masala. Instructions to make Sambhar:
  1. Prepare Tamarind Juice – soak 1/2 tablespoon tamarind in 3-tablespoons of hot water for 10-15 minutes, mash it with a spoon and strain it using a sieve and discard the solids.
  2. Add toor dal, turmeric powder and 1 cup water in 3-4 liters capacity steel or aluminum pressure cooker. Add mixed vegetables in a small container, place it inside the pressure cooker and close the cooker lid. Pressure cook over medium flame for 3-4 whistles. For this recipe we used 1/4 cup potato, 1/4 cup brinjal, 1/4 cup carrot and 1/4 cup French beans as mixed vegetables.
  3. Heat 1 tblspn oil in a pan over medium flame add mustard seeds add curry leaves dry red chillies for 15 minutes cook it
  4. Add chopped onion
  5. Add tamarind and cook for 2 min
  6. Add tomatoes and sambhar powder cook for minute Add mashed veggies water amd salt
  7. Boil for 7 minutes
