The ingredients needed to make Sambhar Vada:
  1. Get 1/2 cup Toor daal
  2. Get 1 big onion chopped
  3. Prepare 4-5 small onions peeled
  4. Make ready 1 big tomato chopped

  6. Get 1 tsp Tamarind
  7. Prepare 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  8. Take 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  9. Make ready 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped

  12. Make ready 1/2 cup urad daal
  13. Make ready 1 tsp black pepper
  14. Prepare As required Salt

It is popular in South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisines. Just before serving warm up sambhar, immerse vadas and let soak for two minutes. Sambar vada, sambar idli types are very popular in restaurants like saravana bhavan It is very easy to prepare sambar vada, just make medu vada, sambar and the only work. Sambar vadai is one my all time favorite, in fact i can say it is the entire family's favorite one.

Steps to make Sambhar Vada:
  1. Soak urad daal for 4-5 hours.Make a smooth paste out of it.Add salt,black pepper and baking soda and mix well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.Take a small portion and make round balls.Make a hole in the center.
  3. Fry them in a medium flame until golden brown and crisp.
  4. In a bowl take some hot water.Deep the vadas into it. Let them soak for few minutes.
  5. Cook tool daal in a pressure cooker for 4-5 wistiles.Mash them.
  6. Add red chilli powder,turmeric powder,salt,tomato,small peeled onions,green chillies,curry leaves,and tamarind.Cook them for 5-10 minutes.
  7. In a pan heat some oil.sparkle some mustard seeds and.Add curry leaves and Sambhar powder.Stir them for few seconds.
  8. Add daal mix to it.Add some water and give it a boil.Add some ghee into it and switch off the flame.
  9. Remove the vadas from water.Squeeze the excess water from vadas.
  10. Pour hot Sambhar into it and garnish it with some coriander leaves and chopped onions.
