The ingredients needed to make Sambhar vada:
  1. Take Urad Dal 1 cup soaked for 3_4 hours
  2. Make ready 2 tbsp Green chillies paste
  3. Prepare 1 pinch asafoetida
  4. Get Toor Dal 1 cup soaked for 1 hour
  5. Get 2 tbsp Sambhar masala
  6. Make ready 1 tbsp Turmeric powder, red chilli powder
  7. Make ready 1 tbsp Garam masala, coriander powder
  8. Take 1 tbsp Fenugreek seeds
  9. Get 3 spoon tamarind paste
  10. Prepare 1 medium sized onion, brinjal, gourd cut into julien piece
  11. Take Water
  12. Take Salt
  13. Take Oil
  14. Get 2 drumsticks
  15. Make ready 2 tomatoes
  16. Make ready 1 tbsp ginger paste
  17. Make ready Mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves 1 tbsp

It is popular in South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisines. Just before serving warm up sambhar, immerse vadas and let soak for two minutes. Sambar vada, sambar idli types are very popular in restaurants like saravana bhavan It is very easy to prepare sambar vada, just make medu vada, sambar and the only work. Sambar vadai is one my all time favorite, in fact i can say it is the entire family's favorite one.

Instructions to make Sambhar vada:
  1. Put the toor Dal, green chillies (3_4), ginger paste, fenugreek seeds and tomato in cooker and give 2_3 whistle
  2. Now pour the urad Dal in mixer jar and add green chillies paste, asafoetida in it and grind it make a smooth paste
  3. If water required than add
  4. Make a small vada and deep fry in to oil
  5. Open the cooker and grind the Dal and pour it in bowl
  6. For sambhar : in cooker add oil give tadka of mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves
  7. Add onions, brinjal and gourd and saute it for a min
  8. Now add Dal in it and add all masalas
  9. Add water and tamarind paste
  10. Lastly add drumsticks and give one whistle on medium flame
  11. Now one side soak the vada in to hot water for 10 min
  12. Squeeze the vada from water and add in to vada..
