  8. Prepare 1 pc. Brinjal
  9. Prepare 1 pc. Green chilli
  10. Prepare 1/2 cup bottle gourd
  11. Prepare 1 piece drumstick
  12. Take 1 tomato
  13. Take 1 tbsp Tamrind
  14. Prepare to taste Salt
  15. Get 1 tbsp Sambhar masala
  16. Take 1 onion
  17. Get 1 tsp. Red chilli powder
  18. Take 1 pc. Dry red Chilli
  19. Prepare 1/8 tsp. Asofoetida
  20. Make ready 1/2 tsp. Turmeric powder
  21. Prepare 1 tb oil
  22. Get 1/4 tsp. Mustard seeds
  23. Take 1/8 tsp fenugreek few curry leaves
  24. Take FOR CHUTNEY :-
  25. Get 1 cup grated coconut
  26. Get 1/2 cup roasted chana gram
  27. Get 1/4 cup curry leaves
  28. Prepare 1 tbsp. Oil
  29. Prepare to taste Salt
  30. Get 1/2 tsp. Sugar
  31. Make ready 1/8 tsp. Mustard seeds
  32. Make ready 1 tsp ginger chilli paste
  33. Get 1/8 tsp. Urad dal
  34. Get Pinch asofoetida

Tamarind or lemon juice : I do not add tamarind or lemon when it is made to serve with idli dosa as the batter already has a faint. We are fond of coconut chutney and sambar served with idli, dosa and vada. In fact my mom-in-law who is actually a Punjabi, loves South Indian food, especially masala dosa, idli, sambar and rasam. All other South Indian recipes made with coconut are her favorite.

Instructions to make Idli Sambhar with coconut Chutney:
  1. FOR IDLI:- Wash and soak dal rice in different vessels for 5-6 hrs. Grind and ferment for 6-8 hrs. After 8 hrs beat well, add salt and pinch of soda. Mix well. Add 2-3 tbsp water if needed. Grease idli stand and boil 7-10 min. Idli is ready.
  2. For Sambhar :- wash and soak dal tur dal. Add fenugreek seeds and turmeric powder salt and wait for it to whistle 5-6 times. Open the lid. Heat oil in a pan for tadka, add mustard seeds, dry red chilli, slited green chilli, asofoetida and all veggies, curry leaves, green chilli, dry red chilli, asofoetida and thenfor saute 5-7 min. Add red chilli powder, sambhar masala, Salt and add 1/4 cup water. Add in dal. Add 1/2 glass water cover and cook for 10 min on slow flame. Sambhar is ready.
  3. FOR CHUTNEY:- Mix coconut, ginger, chilli, salt, roasted chana gram, sugar and curry leaves. Churn and then add 1/2 cup water. Churn again. Make tadka with urad dal, mustard seeds, asofoetida. Ddd on a chutney. Chutney is ready.
  4. Tasty tempting Idli Sambhar Chutney is ready to serve.
