Haleem probably is the only dish for which I prefer the Hyderabadi version over the Kolkata version. Rich, thick, mushy, well-blended, Haleem is one of its kind for sure! I still remember for the first time.

To begin with this recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can have haleem using 12 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Haleem:
  1. Prepare 500 gm broken wheat soaked overnight
  2. Get 1 cup urad dal soaked overnight
  3. Take 600 gm mutton
  4. Take 2 onion sliced
  5. Make ready 3 onion sliced and fried golden brown
  6. Prepare 1 piece dried ginger(sonth)
  7. Get 4 tbs ginger garlic paste
  8. Prepare 3 tbs powdered coriander and cumin powder
  9. Make ready 2 tbs red chillie powder
  10. Take 1 stick cinnamon
  11. Take 6 cloves laung
  12. Prepare As required Coriander for garnishing

Instructions to make Haleem:
  1. Soak broken wheat and urad dal overnight. In the morning add dried ginger and salt and pressure cook wheat and dal for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker add oil. Put laung and cinnamon in it. Add mutton, ginger garlic paste and all dry masala. Add sliced onion too. Saute for 10 minutes then close the cooker and after 1 whistle lower the flame to medium and cook for 15 minutes.
  3. Add cooked mutton in wheat and dal mixture and simmer for 5 minutes. Garnish with fried onion and coriander.
