Haleem is basically spicy lentil soup. I found that soup mix is a handy thing to make it. Though I mix moog dal with soup mix in this recipe. Soup mix actually mix of wheat, red lentil, split peas mixture.

Steps to make Haleem soup:
  1. In a pan dry roast wheat flour till you get the aroma and keep it aside
  2. Now in the other vessel take oil add jeera, bay leaves, peppercorns, cloves and garlic paste and saute well.
  3. Now add wheat flour and add water and milk
  4. Mix well now add soup cubes and salt and let it cook on med flame for 10 mins. Serve.

Haleem probably is the only dish for which I prefer the Hyderabadi version over the Kolkata version. Rich, thick, mushy, well-blended, Haleem is one of its kind for sure!
