  1. Prepare 1/2 cup short grain rice
  2. Take 1/2 cup lentils (moog daal/toor Dal/masoor daal)

Steps to make Khichdi:
  1. First wash all the vegetables, rice & lentil properly then cut the vegetables in desired pieces.
  2. Now In a pressure cooker heat up some ghee/oil and add temper the oil with whole cumin seeds, slit green chillies & bay leaf.
  3. Add chopped onion once the cumin seeds start crackling & saute.
  4. Now add whole garlic cloves & saute with the onion, it will brings nice flavor to the khichdi. Then add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder & mix well into the oil.
  5. After that add cauliflower florets & saute for a while then add all the other vegetables one by one & saute.
  6. Now add pre washed rice-lentils & mix well with the other vegetables. Saute for 5-6 minutes then add garam masala powder & salt as per taste.
  7. After that add 5 cups of water & stir well.Now pressure cook the mixture for upto 2 whistle on medium high heat.
  8. Now take the cooker out of flame & wait until it releases all the pressure. Once the pressure has released open the lid and mix well with the help of a spatula. Khichdi is ready to be served.
  9. Serve it hot with papad(fried lentil chips), pakodas & some pickle.
