  2. Get 1/2 cup urad dal (soaked overnight)
  3. Take 1 cup plain rice (soaked overnight)

  7. Prepare 1/2 bowl Toor daal
  8. Prepare 1 medium sized fresh bottle guard (cut in squares)
  9. Prepare 1-3 tsp Sambhar powder
  10. Get 8-10 Curry patta
  11. Prepare 1 tsp Chana dal
  12. Get 1 tsp Urad dal
  13. Prepare 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  14. Make ready 2-4 green red chillies cut in halves
  15. Get 1 tsp turmeric powder
  16. Prepare 1 tsp coriander powder
  17. Take 2 tsp Oil
  18. Make ready 1 tsp Jaggery or shakkar
  19. Take as required Water

Steps to make Idli and Bottle-gourd Sambhar:
  1. Grind the rice and urad dal and mix together. Put into a large container and let it ferment. After it is fermented add salt and grease the idli stand. Pour a small quantity of batter in stand and steam for around 5-7 mins. Take out if a toothpick inserted in it stands clean.
  2. Heat the oil, add mustard add some seeds, curry patta, urad dal, chana dal, chillies etc. Add turmeric, coriander, jaggery and sauté for a couple of min.
  3. Boil soaked chana dal and lauki along with some salt and cook until done. Add this lauki, chana dal to the Tadka and cook for a few more minutes.
  4. Serve this when hot.

This way the veggies are hidden and my son I make it with idli or dosa and is loved by all. My son enjoys singing "garam garam sambhar main doobe idli"(idli sunk in hot sambhar) and will eat them all.
